As we emerge into 2008 I was wondering what every ones favourite books or journal articles they have read in 2007 were. These do not have to been published in 2007, but ones you have read in 2007.
Mine were:
1) Manuel DeLanda: 'A Thousand Years of Nonlinear History'
2) Georges Bataille: 'The Accursed Share: Vol 1'
3) Jean Baudrillard: 'The Intelligence of Evil or the Lucidity of the Pact'

I can't remember when I read DeLanda's book, but it definitely is right up there near #1. An amazing book, absolutely amazing. I just ordered his latest one on A NEW PHILOSOPHY OF SOCIETY: ASSEMBLAGE THEORY AND SOCIAL COMPLEXITY. It's been a while, too, since I read THE ACCURSED SHARE, Vol. 1, but this too is central to a key concept ('energonomics') I develop on my blog Scholaris Erratus. By the way, thanks for adding this to your blogroll.
Thank you for your list. Here is a book that inspired me because it shows great minds discussing great ideas -- "The Power of Yin: Celebrating Female Consciousness" by Hazel Henderson, Jean Houston & Barbara Marx Hubbard. Three influential philosphers of the 70's meet to discuss challenges facing society back then. It amazes me how their discussions are relevant to our society today. It gave me inspiration and hope for our world.
Cheers,
Linda
My favourite book that I've read in 2007 was Immanuel Kant's Critique of Practical Reason.
What? No mention of my *Hegel's Political Philosophy: A Systematic Reading of the Philosophy of Right*....? ;0)
I'm starting to read Kant's critique of pure reason, which, to my surprise, I am enjoying so far.
'Hegel's Political Philosophy: A systematic Reading of the Philosophy of Right' is on 2008's reading list.
